Teen Hub: A New Initiative to Create a Safer Online Space for Young People

Teen Hub is a developing project designed for young people aged 13–17, aiming to create a safer, more positive online space focused on opportunities, shared interests and wellbeing, with safeguarding at the heart of its development.

Teen Hub: A New Initiative to Create a Safer Online Space for Young People Teen Hub is a developing project designed to support young people aged 13–17 by creating a more positive online experience, with a focus on online safety, shared interests, opportunities and wellbeing. Why Teen Hub? The internet offers young people opportunities to learn, explore interests and discover new things, but it also presents challenges. Teen Hub is being developed with the aim of providing a dedicated space for teenagers, with appropriate boundaries and safeguarding considered from the outset. The project aims to encourage positive participation and help young people discover opportunities, engage with activities and feel part of a community. Safety comes first When creating a platform for teenagers, safety and responsibility must be central to its development. Teen Hub is being designed with this in mind, including clear boundaries around online interactions. The project is continuing through its development and safeguarding preparations. Its readiness for wider use in England will be confirmed before an official launch is announced. Supporting young people and families Parents, carers, schools, youth workers and community organisations all have an important role in supporting young people. Teen Hub hopes to provide a foundation for positive opportunities and, as the project develops, explore ways to work with people and organisations who share these aims. Community feedback and constructive partnerships could help shape the project’s future and ensure that the needs of young people remain a priority. Looking ahead Teen Hub is part of a wider commitment to exploring practical ways to improve opportunities, inclusion and wellbeing for young people. Further updates will be shared as the project progresses and important development and safeguarding milestones are reached. Swindon Together will continue to share news about community initiatives that aim to make a positive difference.
