Independent shop owners are struggling with high business rates making it difficult to survive. Several have closed in the last year.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

I ran a small shop for 10 years but had to close because of rates and rent. I'm now unemployed.

COMMUNITY SUGGESTION — What would you like to see instead?

Introduce reduced rates for independent businesses in empty unit areas. Create a business incubator with subsidised rents.
